#laterblog

Just when I think that it's going to slow down, it only gets faster! Our couch finally arrived and I LOVE it. It really makes our living room feel bigger and we actually like sitting in the living room now.
One of our favorite neighborhood places has started doing game night once a month and this month was Bingo. We had a lot of fun with our friends!
Winners got choice of some prizes and I won this rope beer holder. I know you're jealous.
We've a ton of rain, which has been a little depressing. The Pearl River (below) has been really high lately. After our friend's wedding the other weekend, we drove across the Spillway to see what it looked like. The water is flowing so fast, it's foamy.
But that rain turned into snow! I still had to go to work, but it was a lot of fun to go photograph all the students in the snow.
View from my office
Of course there is always stuff to do in our neighborhood. This past weekend was the album release party for our friends' band, The Furrows.
We've been enjoying fantastic breakfast the past couple of weeks for these special breakfast events the coffee shop next door was doing called "Mom, Breakfast Doesn't Taste Like It Used To." Different couples came in and made different dishes they grew up with - including this past Saturday with turkey sausage and apple bake and guava and strawberry stuffed french toast. Amazing stuff.
Please have a moment of silence with me for the beautiful mid century dresser we almost bought this week but it was too long. Where, oh where, are all the mid century chest of drawers? Looking for something streamlined, but it really needs to be taller than it is wide. Humph.

Rainy Week

It's been a rainy week around here, but it didn't start out that way! This week I started my new job and I couldn't be happier.
I'm settling into my office and trying to decorate here and there when I can.
Like this lamp, which I've had forever.

I've been eyeing this bag for months and I finally found it cheap enough from someone that was selling it on eBay. A little "new job" purchase of sorts...
Paul was sweet and sent me flowers. Note a color theme going with the purple yet?
We're trying to get back into the swing of eating better and working out, but this rain isn't helping the work out part! We did have a wonderful meal of black bean burgers and sweet potato fries last night. These remind me so much of senior year of college!
We also made some big purchases over the break that are starting to come in - first: a new leather rug, which I love. This past weekend, we also pulled the trigger on buying a new couch because we were selling our old one to a friend. They picked the couch on Monday and we are without until the new one  is delivered tomorrow!
Hope you are having a great week!

End of the Year Redux

It's been such a blur since we got married! The holidays and our honeymoon didn't help either, though both were wonderful. Here are just a few of the things we did since we got married...

Went to the grand opening of Scott Crawford's LEGO Jackson. Scott has been doing this for a few years now and it keeps getting larger. We got to church with him and he lives in our neighborhood. Read my story I wrote about him for the lastest magazine here.
We put up and decorated our first tree. Yes, we only got a five foot tall tree!
 I made Christmas gifts...
Gave away gifts at Toys for Tots. This is always one of my favorite things of the year. I managed the shopping floor again this year and Paul was able to be a "shopper" with our families. We had a lot of fun.

As soon as we got done with Toys for Tots, we had Christmas with Paul's family and then packed our bags for Jamaica.
It was GORGEOUS. We can't wait to go back in the future.
The water there is beautiful and clear.
This was my view pretty much all week from my chair under the palm tree.

We came home and it was time for Christmas! We spent time with family...
And then I got the crud, strong and fast. Pretty much since the day after Christmas I've been on the couch.
I finally went to the doctor on Saturday (it's hard to find a doctor taking new patients in this city!) and I filled my Z-pack prescription on Sunday.

I've got my new calendar and I'm ready to see the new year has in store.
The one thing written on the first few pages is my new job! I was offered a dream job to work in marketing at Millsaps, so I have accepted that job and given my notice at my other job (all while on my honeymoon, no less). My last day at my current job is this Friday and I start my new job next Monday! I can't wait!
