Other Things

Phew! That was a long one, so I decided to break it up for your attention's sake!

As part of my bridesmaid's gift, Claire gave me TONS of dark chocolate. While I could have just eaten it out of the wrapper, the other day I was really craving Molten Chocolate Cake. My sister used to make it all the time and I knew I had to make it. If you have never had it, make it NOW!

Do you see this little thing? It lived at our house for a few days until it found a good home. It was probably one of the cutest cats I have ever seen.

Look at THAT!

Pepper didn't seem to be minding too much...

At Odds and Ends yesterday I found the perfect chair to go with my old school desk I found. Not to mention it was really cheap. So, I went to Lowe's and got some spray paint and made it green. I'm really pleased with it (it's a little lighter/brighter in the pictures than it is in person).

Also, if you are interested, I had two freelance stories as part of the annual Young Influential issue of the JFP. You can check them out here. My [dish] with P. Sanders McNeal is here.

Wedding Wrap-up

Hello guys! I know it's almost been a week since the wedding, but I've been super busy! However, I'll fill you in all the festivities that have happened lately.

It all started in Tupelo on Friday with the bridesmaid's luncheon. It was very good and sweet! (This is all of us bridesmaids- Anna, Marion, me, and Caitlyn)

That night after the rehearsal, we had a dinner at Park Heights in downtown Tupelo. Just look at the menu! I got the salad, steak, and apple crostata.

Salad (Tomatoes were awesome!).

Steak.

Apple dessert!

The place was really neat and the flower arrangements were gorgeous! As I was taking pictures of each course, Anna had to explain to people (her family, as she was the groom's cousin) that this was for a blog. The woman next to me (too funny) kept saying, "A blog, eh?? Am I going to be all over the web?" I assured her that I was no Perez Hilton, just a small, personal blog. I hope she understands.

The next morning we got up super early so we could be ready for pictures at 7:30 a.m.

Waiting for the ceremony, Claire sat in this chair and we had to put her dress over the chair so she wouldn't smash it. She looks like a cupcake!

The wedding was wonderful and so pretty. We were scared that it may rain, but it was sunny the whole time!

Camping

Hello, I'm back from camping! We had a fun time in the cabin, just hanging out. Our vacations are always so easy because no on holds anyone to doing anything. Some might not think of that as a good time, but we go on vacation to enjoy ourselves. Anyways... here are some highlights of the trip.

We started Friday by unloading some really good grub. In the picture (clockwise from top) one of the three types of sausage (we had Chicken + Feta and Spinach, Italian, and Maple), stuffed grape leaves, packaged hummus, olive salad, Baba ghanoush. We also had fresh hummus, fresh pita, garbanzo bean salad, black bean and corn dip and other lovely things. It was all really good!

The next morning we all ate breakfast on the deck and Cary gave her mom turtles for Mother's Day! They are from this bakery in Hattiesburg called Jody's Bakery. I've got to try that place!

On Sunday, we make our way to Dunn's Falls. (If we keep this up much longer it's going to become a family tradition!) See this picture of Cary? She got bitten by a booger of a spider right after this picture. He might even be on her arm in this very picture.

Look at it! It's almost green.

I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but it has these sticker-like things sticking out of it's legs. Gross!
[Editor's Note: Click on the image to make it bigger. You can see it is bigger detail there.]

After that, we made it down to the bottom of the falls.

After eating a picnic lunch, we all heading home!

Since then, I've been busy working at the Drip and doing some freelance work for the JFP. After an interview I'm conducting this afternoon, I'm getting my hair cut! It's gotten pretty gross and I need it to look good, because I am in Claire's wedding this weekend.

Hey guys! Sorry it's been so long.

I actually was going to do a big post yesterday, but the internet on campus has been down since I got back. Thankfully, it's back!

This weekend I had to take all of my stuff home because this week is finally FINALS week. Whoo hoo!
One of the things we did this weekend is get flowers for our backyard. We go to the same nursery every year. It's got a huge selection (at least, in my mind it does) and we always have so much fun picking out things (even if we can only have the same shade plants every year).
They always have weird plants and one of them was Pregnant Onion. The bulb sticks out of the soil, so I guess it looks "pregnant."

This was in the herb section, so I assume you can eat this. It's mint chocolate and it seriously smelled like mint chocolate.

I can't remember what this plant was called, but I thought it was pretty gorgeous.

I had gone to Fresh Market that day and bought small rolls for sandwiches. I had about six left and decided to make some petit olive cheese bread. I almost think this is a better way to serve Olive Cheese Bread. It was amazing, as usual.

Since it's finals week, you probably won't be hearing from me until it's all said and done. I've got stuff to study! This weekend we are taking our annual Mother's Day camping trip, so I'm sure I'll have some good pictures of that when we get back. I've also got a full load with the JFP for the next week or two, so I'll be a busy bee. That next weekend is also my friend, Claire's, wedding (I'm a bridesmaid). So... I've got a lot coming up!
