Pfewwwww! It may only be Monday, but I feel like this week is going by fast. Probably because it's MOVING WEEK! Yep, I finally get to move in to my new place and I'm super excited. For now, everything is a wreck!

Yuck, yuck, yuck! I'll be so glad when everything is tucked away where it's supposed to.

Erin and I went to a fabulous event at the Museum of Art tonight! Every year, MMA has a sale and live auction of (great) donated art to help benefit future exhibits and acquisitions. Tickets are a pretty penny at $50 a person, but Erin won free tickets! We got all dolled up and had a fabulous time. The food was fantastic!

Asian noodles in this clever small takeout box - they were surprisingly cold, but the flavor was so good!

Filet mignot square on a piece of olive bread. Oh my. Erin and I were obsessed with these.

Not even sure what thus was... Chocolate cake in this melted chocolate sauce (think melted ice cream) with whip cream on top. Not necessarily my favorite.

It was a lot of fun. We were a little out of our league as far as bidding on art work is concerned (Hee hee ho ha hee, seriously don't give either of us a bidding paddle. They asked us if we wanted one and we promptly said no).

B-A-N-A-N-A-S

Oh. my. goodness. How did I not know about this sooner?

It may not look so amazing, it's my new favorite blog recipe find: banana soft serve! It's simply a banana chopped up, frozen in the freezer and then blended in a blender. Could not be any easier. I also added a little (1.5 teaspoons to 2 frozen bananas) peanut butter and a splash of almond milk to loosen it up a bit.

If you make it, be patient! It'll take about 2 minutes or more to mix smoothly and you may have to stir it a time (or two) to make sure chunks aren't stuck under the blade.

So easy to mix up and keep in the freezer when you really need a sweet fix!

Home again, home again...

... jiggity, jig.

Ok, so not really my home, but one of my favorite places I get to visit for work on a pretty regular basis- the Jackson CC! (Scroll down for more posts on it.)

Tonight we had our closing FAM (familiarization) tour reception for local meeting planners and it was lots of fun. I went to one of the last lunch receptions today for lunch at a downtown hotel and it was wonderful!

Love the downtown "skyline" (from the top of my parking garage at sunset)...

Almost the weekend!

Sweet Tooth

As you have seen on my blog, my office has a sweet tooth. Especially for the cupcake shop called Gigi's. Today, one of my co-workers made the pilgrimage over and brought some back!

There is way, way, way too much icing, but the cake part is actually pretty good.

I had the red velvet cupcake, but half way into the cake and about a quarter of the way through the icing I had to stop. So sweet!

Gotta love a cupcake to break up the afternoon!

By TJ Maxx standards, I think I'm considered a "Maxx-ionista"... and they are probably right. I'm pretty sure what I did this morning was not for the faint of heart.

I went...

...to the grand opening of a TJ Maxx at 8 a.m. It was packed. I mean, thousands of people packed. We got there at 7:45 and there were close to 200 in front of us.

It hit 8:00 and the line began to move. We got inside and it was a mad house! After searching for items for over two hours, we think we are almost done... nope. Check out took just about as long. Needless to say, Erin and I did not make it to church.

New favorite place! I had seen something about this a few weeks ago, but could find NO information about it. But, we were close by today and it was OPEN!! Sweet Tree Yogurt!

I'd seen other cities with shops like this and had hoped we would one day have one. I got tastes of Low Fat Dark Chocolate, Peanut Butter, and Cheesecake with almonds and brownie bites. My mom and I shared and it was tasty!!

I love Mississippi. I love my downtown. But, my new love involves skywalks.
I think I've managed my entire first-summer-working-downtown-and-oh-my-GAH-it's-hot experience around them. Today, I was walking to get lunch (using the lovely air conditioned maze I use) and really looked out to see downtown. The views are really cool!

Can you believe it's almost Friday again? This week flew by. Today I went to Target after work and had a huge blast from the past. Look at the newest duct tape:

How cool is that? I can't even imagine what it would have been like if I had had this kind of duct tape when I used to make all of my duct tape memorabilia!

Update on my canvas:

Hope you have a good Friday!

Sometimes a bad idea is a bad idea. This waffle sandwich is one of those bad ideas.

I was going to do this post last night but I was so full that I couldn't. Yes, it was like that.

One of our best friends is leaving today for law school at FSU, so we had a going away party last night for her.

Erin had tagged her recipes and we had a FEAST. I made Olive Cheese Bread as an appetizer, while Erin made PW's Lemon Basil Chicken Pasta. Yum yum yum. To top it all off, we had brandied peaches and ice cream for dessert.

It was perfect! I also brought a suitcase full of old photos for us to look through. It was fun to look at them all again!

Phewwww! It's been a crazy couple of days. Friday, my mom, sister and I had a fun lunch at Hal and Mal's. Soft shell crab poboy was delish. We also used a promotion I am doing at work to get free bread pudding. Love that place!

Saturday, my mom and I helped to host a bridal shower for a friend of ours. We had so much fun and we were really surprised how easy it turned out! I love showers.

Today, we headed to Carthage for our annual family reunion. One of the best parts is checking out the different foods people bring and making a mental list of what you want. This was our favorite (funny) thing on the menu:

Little Debbie cakes! I'm sorry to say I didn't make it around to that but I know if I had been 15 years younger I would have loved that.

Now, I'm back at home working on a craft project for my new house. I needed a pretty large piece of art for our dining and I was not having any luck finding anything. I went to Michael's and found this big (24x48) canvas that was perfect (and a steal at $18). Now I'm down to painting!

I'll let you guys know how it turns out!

Just had to share this hilarious video I just took of Toby. Ivy and her boyfriend, Brandon, were riding bikes out front, when my mom and I brought out the chihuahua to go to the bathroom. Toby ran straight for Ivy's bike and ran right beside her the whole time she rode around the cul de sac! Enjoy.

Overnight oats with a banana, sprinkle of homemade granola, and a (smallish) blob of peanut butter!

Food has probably been the hardest part about my transition to the 8-5 grind. I need to eat a good, filling lunch breakfast to last me til lunch; pack a healthy, good lunch; snack; etc. It's hard to calibrate it just right to where you don't have food left over that you waste or not enough (Eek! That makes you want to go out or go to a vending machine!!).

Plus, going out to eat is a communal thing for the office and who wants to turn away from that hang out time?

I think I've gotten a hang on what works and what does, for now!

We had a visitor come the other day and ask why there weren't a lot of people on the street. One of my co-workers told her, "It's wayyyy too hot! Everyone around here stays in the air conditioning."

It's definitely too hot outside right now (as you can see by the empty street) with 100 degree temperatures and an excessive heat warning in effect. No wonder I've been thinking about different popsicle recipes lately!
